This bracelet was made using the Kumihimo braiding technique which is a traditional Japanese technique of braiding cords together. Kumihimo, which literally means “gathering threads”, is done by interlacing reels of yarn, most commonly silk yarn with the use of special, traditional looms called “marudai” or “takadai”. Through the years, Kumihimo has taken on many forms, including the incorporation of beads such as in this specific piece. Thanks to this interlacing of threads, Kumihimo pieces are sturdy and last for quite a long time.

This stunning statement piece was meticulously hand-braided using a strong grey thread with the addition of silvery-grey glass seed beads and grey glass Magatma beads. It has been finished with a lovely gun-metal colour toggle clasp. Whomever gets to wear this piece will undoubtedly feel like the coolest person in the room as well as the classiest.
